TALBOT TROUT FARM is a haven of tranquillity and peace in-between the rolling hills of the South African Highveld, a comfortable two and a half hour drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria. The popular village of Dullstroom with a selection of unique shops, restaurants and art galleries is a 45 minute picturesque drive from our beautiful property. This exclusive nature and wildlife retreat cover a variety of ecosystems, private trout dams, farm animals and free-roaming game as zebra, ostriches, blesbok, nyala and reebok can be seen grazing on the hills surrounding our cottages.
With an aura of calmness and beautiful nature, it is the ideal place to relax, fish in the dams and enjoy leisurely hikes or take an exciting ride on your mountain bike.
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of modern life and share our passion for this magical place.
Currently we have two cosy cottages accommodating up to ten guests overlooking a natural stream and our trout dams. Fly-fishers can full fill their passion in enjoying a good fight with our big rainbow trout.
Protea Cottage
Built on the water’s edge of one of our well stocked dams with two double bedrooms, sofa beds and comfortable spacious lounge with double sided fireplace also has a large patio where you can enjoy a sundowner while lighting the fire for your evening braai.
This cottage is ideally suited to two couples and two children but can sleep six adults. When rented the cottage has exclusive fishing right to the dam in front. The cottage electricity is by way of solar power with 220 Volt – although it does not allow for electrical appliances such as hair dryers and toasters.
Both cottages are supplied with quality bedding, towels, coffee, tea and guest amenities as well as a welcoming bundle of firewood. Televisions with DSTV-decoders are available – please bring your own DSTV-card with.
